Completed: Base Formulation

We tested over 20+ base formulas to create a sunscreen that's gentle on sensitive skin, and feels breathable in Singapore’s humidity

Completed: Shade development

We tested more than 50 shades on Chinese and Malay skin tones and narrowed it down to 3 shades that'll complement the natural skin tone of most Singaporeans.

Completed: Full formula

Right before we were about to move to the next stage, a supplier changed how an ingredient was produced — forcing us to reformulate. We spent another 5 months to nail the perfect texture and finish.

Sold out: Our first samples

We couldn't believe our eyes when we sold out on all our initial batch of samples.

We're grateful for each and every one of your trust and support, and are working to fulfil the next batch of pre-orders.

On-going: Lab Testing

After delays due to unforeseen circumstances during shipping, our samples have finally reached our 3rd Party Lab, which will help us run a set of tests according to the highest international standards.

We're testing for UVA, UVB, Sensitive skin, Non-comedogenicity, and Water resistance.

On-going: Packaging details

We're collaborating with a local Singaporean artist (and friend) to design a product that is both gender neutral, and celebrates the Southeast Asian pride of our brand - using batik motifs to highlight the ingredient story.

Pending: More sample batches

We're currently working with our factory and chemist to bring in more materials, to formulate more samples for existing pre-orders. We're targeting to ship these out in July-September 2025.

Pending: Full Production

We're waiting for the full set of lab tests to be run, before starting on full-fledged production. It will take us a lead time of 2-3 months post-testing, and we're targeting for the final products to be shipped in November-December 2025.

What if my product is delayed?

We'll update progress here every end of month, together with a more detailed email update, to all pre-order customers.

If anything changes — from ingredient delays to testing setbacks — you’ll hear it from us first. We’d rather over-communicate than ship something we’re not proud of.

What's the reason the delays?

Unfortunately, formulation is extremely complex for the type of sunscreen we're developing.

To ensure the best quality, we're also putting it through rigorous testing - meaning that we're open to reformulations if the current formula did not perform as we intended.

Other tests include microbial safety, stability, and skin sensitivity, especially for acne- and eczema-prone skin.

We do not wish to compromise on quality — even if that means moving slower.

Can I withdraw my Pre-order?

We understand if priorities change and you're tired of the wait. We're not going to compromise on quality and sustainability - hence there's always a risk of delays.

However, we're offering 100% refunds if you ever change your mind before we ship your order. Just email us at support@rinen.skin

What if I have a darker skin tone?

Formulating deeper shades have been a complex process - due to nature of formulation and cost to conduct consumer testing. However, we're looking to expand the shade selection for deeper skin tones as the brand matures.
